“How to Write Your Ebook in Hours Without Touching Your Keyboard --An Expert's Step-by-Step Guide”
Here's the secret to getting your ebook ready for market in just minutes!
by Steve Manning
One of the most important success tips when it comes to writing a powerful and successful ebook is to write it really quickly and get it out into the market as quickly as you possibly can.
Here’s a method that’s so fast you won’t even be touching your own keyboard (or anyone else’s for that matter).
Depending on how you orchestrate it, it can cost you a few hundred dollars, but any investment in what I’m about to describe is well worth the effort and will get you over the hump of creating your ebook in record time.
In fact, one of the biggest challenges I hear from my students who want to write an ebook is that they just don’t have the time (sound familiar) to write that ebook.
Okay, here’s how we eliminate that.
You’re going to be writing your ebook about something. It will be non-fiction and, if you’re doing it right, your ebook will be answering or providing a solution for a problem your readers have right now.
Enough preamble, let’s get started.
Deliver a free seminar, the content of which will be answering the question your ebook will focus on. It might be an hour, it might be a couple of hours. The time doesn’t matter.
Time for a little unabashed, self promotion: If you haven’t asked for my Free CD, “How to Write a Book On Anything in 14 Days Guaranteed!” then you’re just plain nuts! It’s free, no charge, but you can bet this $100 CD will be carrying that price tag very shortly. How do you get it? Just email me at Free CD, Please, or CD_please@writeabooknow.com and make sure you include your name, your mailing address and your telephone number in the email. Now, back to the article…
I’m suggesting a free seminar only because that’s the fastest way to get things working if you don’t have speaking engagements lined up right now. If you’re about to speak to a group about this top in the next month or so, use that speech. If you’ve already developed a situation where people are paying for your speech, use that. If you think you’ll have no problem bringing in an audience at $50 or $500 a head, then go for it.
The key is you need a speaking engagement. How you get one is the content of yet another book, but free is always a good place to start.
What you want to focus on is getting an audience and letting them know the day and the time you’ll be speaking.
This gives you the all important deadline so critical for the creation of just about anything in this world. If I give you all the time in the world to create your ebook, that’s how long it will take you… all the time in the world.
But if you’re delivering a speech next Thursday evening at 7:00, that’s when it’s going to happen, and you’re going to look like quite the fool if you’re the only one who doesn’t show up.
A week or so before you’re going to deliver this speech, check out a couple of businesses that record events. You want your speech video recorded. DON’T ask a friend to do it, and don’t start thinking of ways to cheap out on this process. You want a professional video and you want everything to go right. You want some expertise on the camera and you want the sound quality to be as good as you can get it. Ask to see some work they’ve done in the past of a similar nature. CALL the folks they’ve worked with before and find out what the problems were, if any.
When I arrange to have my seminars video taped, I don’t even ask how much it’s going to cost. This is something that will be amortized over the next decade or more, so the initial cost is pretty much irrelevant.
A day or two before the event, I call to ensure that they have the place and the time scheduled. And I also call them the actual morning of the event. This is something I simply can’t leave to chance. I arrange to have them there a full hour before the meeting starts and I’ve got all the necessary phone numbers in my pocket.
When you get there, tell the camera person that they should feel free to interrupt you at any time during your presentation if there’s a problem. The video taping is primary. An inconvenience to the audience is secondary.
Deliver the speech and give the folks in the audience all the information you can possibly cram into the allotted time. Don’t hold anything back. If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “… like drinking from a fire hose” this is where it applies. The people in the audience should be flat out overwhelmed by the great, solid content that you delivered.
Have the video duplicated to a DVD and the sound from the DVD placed on CDs as quickly as possible.
You next step is pretty simple. Get someone, anyone who can type actually, to transcribe those CDs.
As soon as they’re done, you’ve got in your hands, warts and all, the first edition of your ebook. Start marketing it immediately and then, only when you have time, start polishing and editing.
Most people will tell me they want to perfect the manuscript before they offer it for sale. I can understand that, but it’s not necessary. Just make sure you use this paragraph in your sales copy.
“The ebook you’re about to receive is raw material… a transcription from a devastatingly powerful seminar. I had to choose between the speed of getting it into your hands right away, or waiting a month or more for the editing process. I chose the speed, and I think you’ll benefit because of it…”
Now there should be no problems from customers about the editing state, or grammatical condition of your ebook.
The whole process can actually take just a few hours from start to finish, and your ebook is on the market, making you money, faster than you ever thought possible.
