“How To Write with Your Book-Writing Coach! --An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”

Your book-writing coach can give you everything you need to write your book quickly and effectively. He or she can encourage you, prompt you, provoke you, direct you, instruct you, chastise you or any one of a thousand other things. But there are a couple of things you've got to do to make sure it's a match made in heaven, and not a living hell.
I've coached literally hundreds of people and helped them make their book a success, from embryonic idea, to full-fledged book-store books. Some needed only a little assistance, some needed me and a psychologist as well. But there are some simple guidelines that should help you when you use a book-writing coach, and put you on course to achieving every objective you want yourself and your book to achieve.
First I ask about the kind of book my student wants to write and why it's important for them to write it. I don't let them go on for too long. Some people will literally talk for hours about the book they want to write and how wonderful it will be when it is finally finished.
As soon as I can, I ask the most important question in our relationship: What's your biggest challenge? What's stopping you from writing the book you've always dreamed you wanted to write. Maybe they doubt themselves, maybe they're having a tough time with the language, maybe they've got so much information they simply can't decide what to include, or maybe they're having some research challenges that they can't seem to get around.
Realize that whatever problems you're having with your own book, there are solutions, sometimes several, that you can try and that a writing coach will be happy to offer to you. Sometimes the answers seem painfully obvious to the author. Other times it's nothing short of a revelation to them.
But whenever I ask you what your biggest challenge is that's preventing you from writing, or completing your book, you've got to be painfully truthful. Tell me why you're having difficulty. Tell me what's stopping you and what, in your opinion, prevents you from achieving the success you want.

What I've noticed in the last year or so is that people will tell me what's wrong, I'll give them the solution that best fits in with their lifestyle or their restrictions, and they'll be delighted by the possibilities of a real breakthrough.
Of course a coaching session is much more than a one-of meeting. So when I call them seven days later, and I ask them how things are going, I usually get one of two responses. Either life has bogged them down so they're not getting the results as quickly as they thought they would, or that set of problems from last week's session really weren't the set of problems that had to be addressed.
That's when you realize that you must either address the real problems, and use the solutions that will give you the results you want, or you must embrace those real problems as the friends they have become.
Interestingly, sometimes a potential author just wants someone to listen to them. Someone who will confirm that what they have to say is really worth all the time and all the effort. Self doubt is one of the biggest reasons people don't write their book.
But if you want to get the biggest results, tell your writing coach, as clearly as you can, what problems you're having and then take those solutions and run with them. You'll be amazed at how effectively they work and how they can change a writing wanna be into an accomplished author.
