“Why You Must Write Your Book NOW! --An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”
There's no time to delay and not a minute to lose. You're risking more than you think if you don't write your book as quickly as possible!
by Steve Manning
In the mid 1800s there were two scientists. Naturalists, really. And both of them were clearly fascinated by what they had been observing in nature. As so often happens, both reached the same conclusions at approximately the same time. Actually, Charles Darwin had reached his conclusions several years before, but was reluctant to put them down in book form for several reasons. First, they were controversial. Taken to the extreme, they could rock the very foundation of religious belief at that time.
Second, The conclusions weren't complete. They could have been explored to a much greater depth which would have made them more succinct, more precise and more useful. Scientists, much like writers, are never satisfied with what they've done. They're always confident there's more that needs to be done before publication takes place. Darwin had been waiting about 20 years before he would write and publish his famous book in 1959.
The second scientist, Alfred Russell Wallace, had met Darwin ever so briefly many years before and new that Darwin's area of study was similar to his own. He sent Darwin two papers about his findings. Darwin was aghast. Russell's terms could easily have been chapter headings for Darwin's upcoming book, On the Origin of Species.
The upshot of the whole story is a common one. Darwin wrote and published his book. Russell never did. The acclaim, notoriety, celebrity and historical recognition went to Darwin, not Russell. Darwin is buried in Westminster Abbey, Russell has a plaque on the wall a little further down.
There's a happy ending with this story, however. Personal happiness, that is. Russell realized both scientists were working on the same thing at the same time. Darwin just wrote the book first. There was no theft of ideas. Both men remained friends for the rest of their lives.
The moral of the story, if you've got an idea for a book, fiction or non-fiction, whatever the genre, whatever the topic, the chances are excellent that there are at least a half dozen others who have the same idea for that book.

The first one across the finish line gets all the accolades, all the accompanying wealth, all the benefits of that book, and that idea. The finish line? The writing and publishing of your book, of course.
I want you to consider this. Right now, even as you're reading these words, there is another person who is working on a book that is virtually identical to the book you want to write. Everything depends on your finishing your book as fast as possible.
Now, let's add a couple of other factors into the mix.
Things change. Technology alters the present and makes the past irrelevant. A few years ago I could have written a great book on magazine writing. Now half of it would be out of date. I could have written spy thriller about the Soviets and the Americans. Now, what Soviets? And when did India become a major world power?
Readership changes. More kids, more women, fewer men. Less time, more competition for eye balls.
Customer preference changes. Five years ago, anything with a boy wizard was gold. Ten years before that, it was alternative literature (let's all get mystic). Now the gold has returned to lead. And when did ebooks become such a huge factor in the publishing world.
Even the industry changes. Technology has meant that you can hear about it today, and read a book about it tomorrow, literally.
Write your book. Write your book now. There has never been a better time, there have never been better reasons and if you delay, well, it may not be your name that history remembers.
