“The Secret of Your Very Special Self-Published Book! --An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”
Ever wanted to use a book to promote yourself, your talents or your company? Here's how to do it and earn big dollars because of your talents!
by Steve Manning
If you're going to use your book as a promotional tool for yourself or your business, then you better make sure you have the right content. Don't settle for hapless prose about your topic, or area of expertise. Make your book a literary dynamo that will attract clients and customers relentlessly, all because you know precisely the right kind of content to put in your promotional self-published book. Here's how you do it…
To start with, here's the kind of book we're talking about. It looks like a book, acts like a book, and you'd certainly be forgiven if you thought it came from a bookstore shelf.
But this kind of book is used, frankly, as a glorified business card. It has a substantial retail price on the front and an ISBN number on the back as well as a bar code, so it's listed on Amazon, but retail sales isn't the objective of this kind of book you write.
It's part of the promotional package your prospect gets when they call you about your services. It's designed to establish you as the expert in your field. It let's any potential customer know that you're know like all the rest out there. You've actually 'written the book' on the subject.
I had one student who used his in a very practiced manner. When a customer would ask him about his services, experience, strategies and methods, instead of getting into a long conversation, he'd simply say, "Why don't I just send you a copy of 'my book.' If you like what's in there you'll like me, because that's who I am."
I know what you're thinking: this sounds like a very straightforward non-fiction book. It will look and read like just about every other non-fiction book on the subject, right?

Nope!
If you're going to write this kind of book, they you better get ready for a vastly different non-fiction book.
To begin with this is a self-published book. So you're not hamstrung by strategies, and dogma you'd find with a traditional publisher. You can promote yourself within the pages. You can, if you're so inclined, give yourself an unabashed print advertising within the pages every 15 pages or so. If you've got promotional items that the reader can use, and take advantage of, then you can offer them as aggressively as you want. You're not restricted to the two pages at the end of the book where you'll usually find a very watered-down offer for an author's services if they appear at all.
In fact, the entire book becomes a very clever 200-page sales letter for you and your products and services.
If you're not a professional copywriter, let me give you one of the easiest methods for doing it… tell your own story.
How did you get into this business? When did you start and why? Make sure you outline how bad you were at the beginning until you discovered the magic ingredient that finally had clients lining up down the street to hire you. How did you develop those techniques and what have they meant to your customers? What are all the benefits your customers get when they use you and your firm. Remember, all clients who use you get more value than they ever thought possible and there are bonuses as well.
Hard to believe? Let's have a few discussions or interviews with satisfied customers. Don't have customers of your own yet? Okay, customers of other folks who work for your firm, or as a last resort, friends who think you're wonderful and are willing to say so, in print. They're called testimonials and I know some professionals who can actually send a one-inch stack of them to prospective customers. They look good in your book as well.
Finally, you've got to tell the reader what to do next. The last few pages of your book are all about the offer you're making to them. Right there on page 196, the reader should be reading something like… "Right now, before you even finish the last couple pages of this book, call Rick immediately to set up your free sales training audit. There simply has never been a better time. Here's the number, and remember that if you call right away, you'll also get…"
Depending on how you use your self promotional, self-published book, this cold be the most lucrative piece of writing you'll ever do, and will actually make YOU a best seller.
