“How to Get Hundreds Recommending Your Book to Millions!
--An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”

If you had hundreds of influential people recommending your book to millions of potential book buyers, would that be a good thing? Here's some step-by-step information that will make it happen for you!
by Steve Manning

Your book becomes a best seller because influential people recommend it to prospective buyers. That's the gist of the creation of any best seller. You can come up with all sorts of variations on the theme, but until someone you respect suggest that you check out this book, it won't even be on your radar screen.

The most obvious example in North America Oprah Winfrey, host of the Oprah Winfrey show. Every day, tens of millions of people tune in to see what this woman has to say on all manner of items. She's a woman of high integrity and widespread influence. If she suggest that viewers take a look at a book, then that's what will happen. Single handedly, she can literally take a book of very little consequence and make it mega best seller. The publisher's only challenge is ensuring there are enough copies in the bookstores.

And just about every country has their influential equivalent. But regardless of where you are, or what book you write, you've got to get influential people recommending your book to prospective buyers, if you want to enjoy the fruits of being a best selling author.

Of course, your big problem when you write your book is you don't know who is influential, and who isn't. If I spend all my time promoting my book to 10 people who really can't influence anyone else to buy, then I'm wasting my time. But if those same 10 people can influence hundreds, thousands, or millions, then I'm well on my way.

It has to do with a concept you may know called six degrees of separation. The theory states that each one of us is no more than six contacts away from just about anyone else on the planet. I'm A and I'm trying to contact B. I know a person, who knows a person, who knows a person, who knows a person, who knows B.

Not a difficult concept to grasp. But what is truly amazing is that every time, almost without exception, somewhere in those six contacts there will be a person who knows an extraordinarly large number of people who wil buy the book you've written. Hundreds, thousands, perhaps millions. That's the person of influence you're really trying to reach.

To this end, I strongly recommend you reserve the first four pages of your book for messages to media, writers circle participants, book reviewers and readers.

On the media page, include your contact information for interviews, teleseminars, a brief bio, anything that will entice and encourage a media person to call you to do an extensive media interview.

On the page for writers circle participants, a note that there's a significant discount if 10 or more copies are purchased, that you'll be happy to do a speakerphone interview with the group, and a letter that the group's leader can use to recommend the book to other writers groups in the area.

Book reviewers get a hotline directly to the author so any questions they have about the book can be answers immediately, and the task of writing a review becomes incredibly easy.

Finally, the page for readers. Welcome to the book's contest. Just tell 10 of your friends how much you enjoyed the book, (the author even provides the text for a letter if they're going to use regular mail or email) and then send the author your name and email. No proof is required. The honor system is good enough. In a few months, there's going to be a draw for $500, or a collection of 10 books, or a beautifully bound first edition of the book, autographed by the author specifically for the winner.

Whoever reads your book should be encouraged to tell others about it. Perhaps only one in 100 will be one of those really influential people. But all you need is a few and your book is on its way to being a best seller.
