How to Sell Truckloads of Books in one Afternoon
The secret of becoming a mega best-selling author
The statistics are in and there is a very simple way of selling truckloads of books, truckloads of YOUR book, in just one afternoon, with more truckloads to follow in the days afterwards.
The best way, the very best way, without exception, to sell a lot of your books, fiction or non-fiction, is to have your book endorsed, recommended or promoted by a disinterested third person.
Let me give you a couple of examples. We’ll start with the ridiculous first.
If your book is mentioned on the Oprah Winfrey Show, or if you’re interviewed on that show, or even if your book receives a positive mention in the magazine “O” (remember, it has 60 million readers), Then your book is virtually guaranteed best-seller status, and it’s more than likely to go into mega-best-seller status. The biggest problem with this happening to your book is literally making sure the books are in the stores so that you can cash in on this opportunity.
By the way, the latest statistics indicate that it really doesn’t matter if you’re on the show, or simply mentioned in the magazine. Either one means your book has hit the big time.
But, to get more realistic, and perhaps to be less intimidating, appearing on a local television show, or radio show, being interviewed by a newspaper, or even just doing a teleseminar with someone who has an audience on the internet, also means you’re going to see a spike in your book sales that will likely be three times what you’ve seen for your best day so far. Put a few of these together and, well you can do the math for your own book.

On the topic of math, the exact numbers vary depending on the book you’ve produced. A book that’s pretty popular already will become wildly popular. But even if your book has reached an almost magical level of boring, you’re still going to see an outstanding increase in sales.
People don’t make their buying decision based on the content (although in a perfect world they should), they make their buying decision based on the recommendation of the disinterested, or apparently disinterested, third person.
I say apparently disinterested because in the world of the internet, a teleseminar means that the endorser is getting paid a percentage of the sales as an affiliate.
It has so much to do with the power of word-of-mouth advertising.
What does all this mean to you? It means that if you want to sell a lot of books, rapidly, you’re got to harness this truly remarkable fact of life. It may not be what you like, it may run counter to your sense of fair play and it may simply simply ethicxally and morally wrong. I understand that. But if obscurity isn’t the land you want to dwell in, then you’ve got to make the promotion of your book a vital component of your writing life. It’s as important as the 5,000 words you write a day. It’s as essential as the concepts of good dialogue, characterization or non-fiction content. If you’re not going to promote your book, via every avenue open to you, then your book and all your efforts will languish without anyone benefiting from all your insights and talents.
If you’re in a writing circle right now, or if you’re participating in a workshop, or are just getting together with other writers to discuss your craft, if you’re taking writing classes or have decided that a book will be your ticket to business success, insist that part of your time be spent on the topic of promoting your book It’s that important. Without it, all you’ve got is a nice hobby. But you may as well be collecting stamps.
