“The One Phone Number That Gives You an Endless Stream of Book Promotion!
--An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”

Here's how a single telephone number can be your key to more book sales than you ever thought possible!
by Steve Manning

Believe it or not, there is one telephone number that is your key to promoting your book relentlessly and endlessly. It's a free number, it doesn't cost you anything, and it's your connection to an endless supply of media folks who will not only take your call, they'll actually return your message and they'll actively try to think of ways to use your book in their media. In this article, I'm going to show you not only how to find this number, but how to use it so relentlessly that you'll be flat out amazed by how effective it is when you write your book. Here's your next step…

Whenever I do a radio program, television program, newspaper interview or, now, even an internet teleseminar, promoting my work, my writing, my seminars, my books, my programs or anything else, I always remember the one thing that is so vitally important that I've literally got it taped up in two places in my office.

After I write a book, calls from producers, media types, or joint venture people can come in any time, always unexpected, but always welcome. Once I charm them, give them as much information as possible and convince them they'd be out of their minds not to have me as a guest or participant, I tell them my one and only condition for getting involved with them, talking a bout the book I've written, and giving them the best guest they've probably ever had.

"All I ask is that at the end of the interview, and only if you're completely happy with it, you give me the names and contact information of two people like you, who would like to do something similar.

And I'm very serious about this. If you don't think you can do that, then I'd just as soon not be involved, but if you can see your way clear to provide me with that kind of information, then I really want to help you get better results than you've ever gotten before."

This request is so innocuous, so benign, so cheap, that non one is ever put off by it.

Something very important that I've learned while promoting my books is that media people always know other media people. They always have a wealth of names and contacts that can further your objectives.

Time for a little unabashed, self promotion: If you haven’t asked for my Free CD, “How to Write a Book On Anything in 14 Days Guaranteed!” then you’re just plain nuts!    If we agree to go ahead (and I've never had anyone say no) then I send them a letter thanking them for their offer and confirming the details. As well as my promise to give them and their readers, viewers, more information than they thought possible, I also gently remind them about the two contacts that I mentioned and they agreed to.

Teleseminar or one interview done, I give them a call about one hour after so things have settled down a little but the success is still fresh in their mind, and I ask them for the contact information.

When I have it, I call, or email, or mail these folks (or all three) and I always use the first line, "Hi Second person's name. First person's name suggested I give you a call because we've just completed a very successful media event with him or her and he or she thought you'd like to do the same. I promised them I'd get in contact with you and get back to them about the results."

From that point I offer them the same or similar media event I did with the first person And I'm persistent. I'll try to make contact with them three or four times and each time I'll use my previous media contact as the door opener and my promise to report back as the reason I have to talk with them.

When I'm on the phone with either one of these folks, guess what my one request is for doing an interview with them? That's right. Each must give me the name of two contacts… Do you begin to see the exponential growth possibilities here?

There are a lot of publicity strategies that put your name before hundreds, if not thousands of potential outlets. But this is the only controlled strategy that is very specific and grows with virus –like consistency. By the way, don't forget to ask when you should give that first person a call so you can give them a second telesminar four or five months down the road.

That one phone number? It's the phone number of the first media person, the first joint venture, the first individual who works with you. With that one number in hand, you can begin setting up your own database, your own list of satisfied media people, you own list of contacgs who know you, and what to help you promote your book beyond your wildest expectations.
