“Why You Haven't Written Your Book!
--An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”

Still don't have that book of yours written? Here's the reason why, and also how you can overcome it the problem!
by Steve Manning

Everyone's starts writing their book with the very best of completion intentions. They're going to write a book, they're going to write a book, they're going to write a book. And they mean it

But only a small percentage turn their intentions into reality. Want to know why? Here's the reason…

There is a direct correlation between how persistent we are in our writing and our completion of our book. The more persistent we are the more likely we are to have a book completed. It may sound basic to say the longer you spend in front of a keyboard the more likely you are to have a book but that is the truth. The more time you spend in front of your keyboard, the more time you spend working on your book, the more likely you are to have that book completed.

Unfortunately most people are looking for gratification no matter what they do. When it comes to writing they've got to have gratification after writing for only an hour or two. They'd like to feel good about writing one or two chapters. After writing for the short amount of time they stop seeing the long-term benefits of their book. They get tired. Bored. They lose heart.

Now, looking for instant gratification in whatever you do isn't a flaw unique to you. It's a problem that runs throughout our culture. We're all looking for instant gratification from a process. We don't want to wait days, weeks, or months to realize the fun and excitement writing a book will bring.

With writing it's easy to get bored or tired of the process. But I will guarantee you that the longer you sit in front of your keyboard or the more persistent you are, the more likely you are to complete that book. That's not an opinion, that's a fact that's been backed by studies.

So right now before you go any farther in the writing of your book, decide you're going to write for a particular amount of time every day or as frequently as you can. Frankly I don't even care if you do much writing. Just put yourself in the position of the writer and write as much as you can as quickly as you can.

That's why writer's block is such a devastating problem for writers. A writer will sit down, start writing, and within a matter of minutes decide they don't have anything else to write. Or they don't know where the story is going. They just don't know what to write next. Now you start to realize why a book outa ne is so vital to your writing success. With a book outline you know not only what will be in the next chapter, you know what will be on the next page, you even know what will be on the page you're writing now. There's no guesswork. You know precisely what will be occurring in your book on every page. When you have that kind of information, the writing of your book becomes much easier. You don't suffer from writer's block. And you can avoid the frustration that comes from leaving your keyboard long before you should end your writing session.

It's not the writing that will make a successful book, it is the persistence. It is the process of sitting down and writing relentlessly. If it helps, have a list of the benefits you will obtain once your manuscript has been produced and put it where you can see it as you write.

For too long writers have been told the most important element of writing success is that writers write. That's not true. The truth is that writers don't stop writing. They are persistent. And they are relentless. With this persistence, with this refusal to get up and leave the project, they achieve the results they're looking for.

   Make it happen for yourself.
