“The Magic of 10,000 Hours of Writing Your Book! --An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”
All you need is 10,000 hours of practice, and you already have four times that!
by Steve Manning
The facts are in, the surveys are done, the studies are conclusive. The more you write, the better writer you become. In fact, there's a specific number of hours of writing you should be aiming for, and there's a very simple strategy for getting those hours, or as many hours as you want to accumulate. But you've already got those hours under your belt. You already have all the skills to be a master writer. In this article I'm going to show you how you can change any five minutes into a fantastic and exciting writing exercise, and whether you're an author, a teacher, a student, or just someone who wants to get better fast, how you head straight down the road to becoming a dynamic writer, without any twists or delays. Here's how you begin…
Start by realizing that any skill, whether it's bowling, reading, surgery, speaking, hockey, playing the violin, or writing, requires 10,000 hours of practice. For some reason, after you've got those 10,000 hours under your belt, you're about as good as you're going to get, you're far better than just about everyone on the planet, and you can easily be earning a living by doing exactly what you've been practicing.
It's easy to see why people who make a living with their skills almost always love what they're doing. They have to, to accumulate 10,000 hours of experience. To give you some idea of just how long 10,000 hours is, if you wrote for three hours a day, every day, you'd have to write for more than nine years before you had those.
Now, it may be a little late in the day for you to pick up a violin, or a sit down before the piano, or even start painting. But writing, not at all! Chances are, you already have those 10,000 hours taken care of, in fact, you may have three or four times time already!
The reason has to do with my strategy that you must write the way you talk. If you write the way you talk, people will usually understand what you're saying. They'll get the meaning of your sentences, and they'll catch the subtleties of your work.
Too often I encounter people, usually students, but often business executives and certainly academics, who try to sound intelligent, sophisticated and worldly. They try to make their sentences sound far more educated than they need to be, or more than they are as authors, and the result is that those sentences are rarely understandable.

If they simply wrote the way they talked, everyone would know what was being said, and the writing would be much simpler and much more entertaining.
You've been talking, (and practicing your writing style), non-stop since you were less than one year old. There were some years when you wouldn't shut up. And there were other years when your talking made absolutely no sense to listeners, notably your parents.
But now you've got it all together. You talk and can hold a conversation with just about anyone you meet. And your writing is understandable to any reader your encounter, if you write the way you talk.
So how long have you been writing? Years, decades, maybe half a century or more. Are you good at talking? Then you're really good at writing. 10,000 hours? Hey, you passed that years ago. Now you're a master!
