“Getting Your Family to Help Write Your Book! --An Expert's How to Write a Book Step-by-Step Guide”
Here's how to get the full co-operation of your entire family so everyone is pulling together for your book-writing success!

What if you had the power of your family backing you when you write your book? Would it be advantageous if your kids and spouse are working as hard for your book-writing success as you are? How about getting all that encouragement, all that support and all that belief in your abilities from them. Would that help?
It's worth a huge amount to you, and here's how you get it.
Stealing time away from your other responsibilities isn't the best way to write your book. It's tough to justify taking time from your family, or other responsibilities to perform what many would consider a self-indulgent behavior.
So have a heart to heart talk with your spouse. Tell him or her that you really want to finally write a book you've wanted to write for years. Be as honest as you can be. Tell them what it's about. Tell them why it's important to you. You'll be gaining that feeling of accomplishment that will make you a better person, a better parent, a more fulfilled individual.
And while we're on the topic of honesty, no, you have no idea where it will lead. It might be published, or self published, or used simply as a glorified promotional device. It may have a print run of just a few because it will be a history of the family that will tell their story to generations to come. Your success right now is writing your book. Publication will come later.
Let your spouse know how they will benefit from the creation of this book. Not monetarily, although that may be your ultimate goal, but by bringing you closer together. By allowing you to create that book, you realize how much you mean to them. It's a project that you want to work on, because it means a great deal to you, too.

Give them a time line. This isn't an open ended project, like the renovation of that bathroom you've been working on for years. You're hoping for two weeks to get it half done. Maybe sixty days for the whole thing.
Yes, I know, you can write your book a whole lot faster than that, but if you told them 14 days they wouldn't believe you and it would be an uphill struggle.
By putting a deadline on the project, everyone can see a light at the end of the tunnel. And you've imposed a deadline on yourself so you have to start moving as well.
A simple deal, if I haven't done what I told you I'd set out to do in that time frame, then I'll just pack everything up and that's the last you'll hear of it.
Now the details of the family support. Negotiate with your spouse so everyone is happy. You need two hours of undisturbed quiet time every morning from 9:00 to 11: 00 a.m. Or maybe 90 solid minutes of uninterrupted time from 8:30 to 10:00 in the evening. No disturbances whatsoever with two exceptions: first, there must be a fire involved, and second, it must be a fast-moving fire!
Next, you've got to talk to other family members who might be involved. Kids must be told that this deal includes them. Tel them why this book is important to you and that you need their help to make it happen. All you ask is no disturbances and there are no exceptions. Say goodnight before the 90 minutes begins, or write me a goodnight card. I'll see it by your pillow when tuck you in later tonight. School papers must be signed before or after. Sorry Mom, I love you. But if you call me between these times, I'm not taking your call. No exceptions. If a relative dies, there's really nothing I can do. Keep all sources of distraction, music, television, arguments, at minimal sound levels.
If something needs to be obtained at a store, someone else will have to get it or we'll do without. You're not being insensitive, you're being committed.
Finally, say thank you to each member of your family each day. Tell them you really appreciate their help, and mean it. The more appreciation they get, the more they'll want to help. You want them to feel like they're doing part of the writing as well, just by letting you get on with the task of writing your book.
